Writing Begins by Vincent

Page lies blank
Life holds its breath
Memory opens

Thought like a pebble
Free as a ripple
Soft watery glimmer

Memory blooms
Life in a poem
Word-colored petal

Sweet bell ringing
Pure, clear crystal
Writing begins

The Master by Kevin

It’s magic,
A thing of beauty,
Artistry, skill.
A quilt on the floor
Invites the class to gather.
The teacher laces his way
Among student groups,
Assumes his position on a chair,
Book in hand,
Always a book.
Chart paper imposingly blank
Soon brimming with colored marker,
The lesson on canvas.
Students return to their desks,
Embrace their journals.
Pencils sweep across the pages.
Eyes lift with imagining
and return to the page,
Crafting, creating,
Modeling the Master.

She walked and walked and walked! For over a century she padded around our little town.

Her blue veins rode high on her alabaster skin. Like strong, weathered ropes, they meandered and forked over her lean, tanned forearms and over the back of her hands to give her an ancient appearance. Angry, purplish-blue blotches, like an stormy sky, discernible on both forearms betrayed her age. Her body had seen many years, many decades go by and it had served her well but now was wearing out. She was old…very old, yet still possessed a steel like strength in her grip. Her 4’ 11” slight frame was diminutive while inside her heart and soul roared like the burgeoning mouth of a young river.
